Low Inertia

Composite rollers provide many advantages over conventional rollers. One of the crucial parameters for the id rollers is inertia. The primary advantage of the composite roller is providing lower inertia than aluminium and steel, thus resulting in a roll that turns at a higher critical speed.

With carbon fiber, rollers become lightweight and therefore the inertia of the roller reduces. Consequently, composite rollers are able to reach high critical speeds because of the low inertia.

Improved Stability

Stability is an important parameter for the rolling process. When the speed of the roller increases, stability tend to decrease because of the inertial forces. The roller must have a high balance to operate accurately and be stable.

Considering the low inertial forces of carbon fiber rollers, greater stability can be achieved when compared to conventional steel, aluminium rollers. Thus, composite rollers are able to reach higher speeds which provide a more efficient rolling process.

Applications

Rollers are used in different applications in the industry. The most common applications are in film lines, packaging lines and printing lines. These applications are high-speed productions and thus requires high rolling speed from the rollers. Roller stability and maximum speed capacity needs to be high to provide efficient performance.

Process

We use our own winding algorithm and Oriented Fiber Placement for accurate orientations. Since the fiber orientations define the mechanical properties of the overall composite roller, we are able to manufacture the most suitable and durable composite roller depending on your requirements such as max speed and weight.

In addition, we are capable of performing balance tests, mechanical tests depending on your request. are required for your application.
